Camilla was born in 1984. She's an engineer who has always had a vivid imagination and a more creative approach to life. After working in a corporate job for some years, she left everything to follow her husband around the world in a new adventure. Upon finding herself with loads of free time for the first time in a long while, she decided to begin pouring some of her fantasies into words...

Wonderfully engaging, light-hearted and fun to read

Joanna (Jo, Joan, Anna), has just married the love of her life, Liam, and is off on her honeymoon. There is only one problem. They are not seated together on the plane and the ogre that is sat next to her refuses to change seats with her new husband.
Liam however, looks quite content to be seated next to a gorgeous model, and is not trying so hard to get her to exchange seats with his wife.
When the unthinkable happens en-route, Joanna and Connor, AKA ‘The Ogre’, are sucked out of the plane and land on a deserted island – not including the animals. Now they must rely on each other and their basic skills, if they are going to stay alive, when everyone else believes them to be dead.
This is the second book by Camilla Isley, and having loved the first one, I was eager to get my teeth in to this new one.
‘A Sudden Crush’ is a chick-lit-esque, tongue in cheek, fairytale of a book. It had me laughing along, and at the characters, especially Joanna and her temper tantrums, and her phobia of spiders.
The story is far-fetched, but that’s what I liked the most. It took me away from the real world at a time when I needed an escape, and placed me in this fantasy world, where it felt like the sun was shining down on me, and I could taste the fresh fruit and hear the waves crashing against the rocks.
I loved how the two pig-headed main characters needed to help each other, and learn to get along if they wanted to make it off the island alive, and how Joanna becomes the adopted mother to Manny, much to Connor’s dislike.
Joanna is a remarkable young woman. She’s fearlessly loyal, and determined. She has a career as an editor which she loves and seemed to have the perfect life until she fell from the plane. The revelations about what her ‘husband’ Liam had been up to whilst he thought she was dead had me seething. At least she got to see his true colours before they took the next step in their life together.
Connor is rugged and moody, yet gorgeous. He takes an instant dislike to Joanna, but as the days, weeks and months go, on you see his softer side coming through.
The book is wonderfully engaging, light-hearted and fun to read. It made me laugh at a time I didn’t think I could laugh, and I had a permanent smile on my face from beginning to end. Thank you Camilla. The book has been like therapy!

Fantastic storyline with engaging characters! Loved it!

A Sudden Crush is a book that I will remember for a very long time! And I have the feeling it will be one of my favourites this year! Yes, Camilla Isley created an incredible romantic comedy with fabulous protagonists and a very exciting and incredibly well-developed storyline!
From the first page, Camilla managed to grab my attention and real me in nicely. I was hooked on every word and could not wait to find out where this story will take me. Joana Price is a book editor! She loves books ( me too!) she is an incredibly intelligent, dynamic fun and fabulous heroine who has a five-year plan and according to her plan Joanna is right on track that is until she steps on a plane - destination her honeymoon!
Joanna could not be happier! She just got married to her very successful author and they are about to embark on their life together as a couple but by misfortune ( or a Joanna is not sitting next to her husband on the plane. She is sitting next to a grumpy and rather scruffy looking man.
Then the plane is caught it a perfect storm and Joanna and her fellow companion are sucked right out of the plane! By sheer luck, Joanna finds herself on a deserted island in the middle of a deep blue ocean with no other then Mr. grumpy Orge/ Connor Duffield.
I loved the way Joanna handles her life situation after she wakes up on the tropical island. I can tell you right one I felt like I do not want to travel on a plane every again! But Joana seemed to stay compose and with one thought on her mind " Hope my husband is alive, and he is going to find me! Preferably very soon!" Well in the meantime, she is lucky enough with Connor for a company ( I would be too!). Joanna's thoughts about Connor kept me thoroughly entertained!
Both Connor and Joana are very resourceful, and they find themselves the most fundamental and essential items to survive until someone comes to rescue them. Luckily for Joanna, she finds herself a little orphan monkey, Manny, to keep her occupied and somewhat fulfills her dreams of motherhood.
The scenes between Joana and Connor are charged with sparkly electricity and peppered with witty comments. I could feel the dynamics in their forced relationship is shifting and taking on a different meaning.
And as the days come and go the balance between courage and hope and depression and disheartenment is becoming a bit blurry to Joanna and Connor.
Will they ever get rescued and what will happen if they do? Well to find out you have to read the book!
A Sudden Crush is an exceptionally romantic comedy with such a lovable characters and fast paced and captivating storyline. I simply could not get enough! I love the authors ideal balance between funny interactions and more serious moments. The gorgeous descriptions of the beautiful tropical island and the way two absolute strangers cope in the most daring of predicaments.
But most of all I so loved and enjoyed the second half of the story. So go and grab yourself a copy because this is a story that will stay with you long after you turn the last page ( just imagine yourself stranded on a deserted island with a hunk of a man who would do anything for you!)

I was provided an ARC of A Sudden Crush in exchange of a honest review. This is the second book I’ve read by Camilla Isley, the first being I Wish For You. I am a huge fan, and I have already pre-ordered a copy of A Sudden Crush.
A Sudden Crush is the epitome of a vacation read. It is light, funny, and full of charm and romance. I loved it! I sat down and read the entire book in one sitting; I could not put it down.
The start of the book was similar to the movie, Six Days Seven Nights; with a surely leading man, and a perky leading lady. The similarities between the movie and this book end with the plane crash and the description of the two characters.
Joanne has just married; and this is supposed to be her honeymoon. I know right! Instead of living it up with the man of her dreams, she is stuck on a deserted island after a plane crash, with tall dark and grumpy man. Oh man, is he grumpy; he speaks in grunts for goodness sakes! She is bored out of her mind, and all she wants to do is get back to her husband, and away from Connor. There’s not any real drama on the island, but over time, the sexual tension between the two builds and builds. It was like waiting for a ticking time bomb to explode.
I was pleased with the direction the book went. Nope, not going to give it away because that would ruin it for you. Joanne stayed true to herself, and her values throughout her ordeal; it made her a stronger better person.
I will say that I am not a huge fan of fade to black, but I was so in love with the characters that I was ok with everything being left to my imagination. Though A Sudden Crush had a fade to black, I still absolutely loved it and it is a huge 5 stars....Sara
